Target system
Since it was founded, the company is active in the field of electronic target system for shooting practice for both infantry and tank. The company was one of the first to commercialise at a large scale radio controlled electromechanical system. The range of products proposed by Baur SA allow training ranging from real ammunition up to laser simulator.
The target systems developed by Baur SA are used by army corps worldwide as well as police corps and special intervention units.
History
The target TAA69 (Treffer Anlage Apparat) was introduced in 1969. It was a
true success story. More than 5500 systems were sold to the Swiss army. Lightweight
and robust, this target system was supposed to be retired in 1999. As the
device showed very high reliability (best ever so far for the Swiss army),
the product will be used until 2011. Several 1000 of this target system were
sold abroad by companies we provided licensing agreement.
In 1977, Baur SA introduced its first target for tank shooting training. A
second system for smaller target images was introduced in 1983. These two
systems were commercial success as well and were widely used in Switzerland
and on the international market. More than 550 systems were installed in Switzerland
and more than 1000 were installed abroad (Germany, Canada, etc.).
In the early 80's, Baur SA introduced is new infantry target system called
CF. Lighter and much smaller than the TAA69 which was still the reference
worldwide. With the CF system Baur SA introduced a target system taking benefit
of the latest technology advances made in the field of electronic components.
This target system is able to provide both pop-up and radial movements without
any mechanical adaptation. In the 1997, a new radio module (Motorola GP Series)
was selected to be used with CF systems. About 1500 systems are used by the
Swiss army. Most of them are used for urban zone fighting training. About
500 systems were sold under licensing to the international market (France,
Germany, UK, etc.)
To fit with special training requirements from both police and army corps, Baur SA introduced in 1990 a rotating target system named CP to render friendly / foe target images. About 200 systems were sold in Switzerland and abroad.
Products available
The target system CF3x is the last evolution of the CF product. This product
is already the main component for shooting training for several infantry corps,
special intervention units and police corps. This product is based on the
latest technology available on the market. Statistics show an even lower maintenance
than with the TAA69 system which was internationaly considered as the most
reliabe system available.
To enhance the training quality, a system called CM (Cible Mobile) was introduced
in 2001. This system allow to render moving targets. All the CF, CP and CPF
systems can be mounted on top of this system. This system can be used either
on fixed location or can be easily transported to achieve training in changing
environment. Several parameter such as length of the trajectory, number of
target that can be mounted on top, etc. can freely be defined by the user.
This system is used by the Swiss army as well several police corps in Switzerland.
It was used during the two last editions of the Swiss raid commando as well.

In 2003, the whole range of target systems (infantery + tank) produced by
Baur SA was equiped with new control and communication units (Radio
+ WiFi).
This new control unit can also be used to update the first generation of target
systems. At low costs, target systems that have been sucessfully used in the
field for years such as the AK2 or AK30 can be updated to the latest technology
trends. The first police and army corps take benefit of such upgrades in the
early 2004.
